A desk company started by people who couldn’t buy the desk they wanted — so they designed and built it themselves.

Our Story

BookLove started with a simple frustration. Stuck working from home for months, our founder Kevin went looking for a smart standing desk he’d actually be happy to live with — and found only wobbly frames, cold laminate tops and plastic controls that felt like toys. Nothing measured up, so he set out to make the desk that didn’t exist. He brought in two old friends — Harry, who’d spent years in office furniture, and Lily, an interior designer — and together they held to one rule: nothing ships unless it’s something they’d want on their own desk. That standard is still in every BookLove we make.

We design every BookLove ourselves — and not only how it looks, but how it feels to use: the gentle radius that meets your forearms, and the hush of a desk that rises without announcing it. Each one begins as our own drawing, deliberated over again and again. Then, part by part, we seek out the people who do their one thing with more care than anyone else, and bring their craft into the desk — so that everything you touch is the sum of genuine ingenuity.

It is why the lifting system is built in partnership with LINAK — smooth, near-silent, and as steady after years of use as on its very first day. It is why the top is a Dacron soft-feel surface, the first of its kind — warm and silky to the touch where ordinary laminate is cold and hard — and why the legs are cast from a single piece of aluminum that never wavers under load. In its design, nothing was chosen because it was easy; every choice was made to make the desk more worth using for years to come. And when a desk is made this way, a ten-year warranty isn’t a promise we strain to keep — it is simply what we expect of it.
